Design & Silhouette
Inspired by 1890s mourning attire, the sleeves are a deconstructed take on the traditional leg-of-mutton style. By pressing a central seam at the sleeve cap, we have flattened the volume on either side to create a more restrained, streamlined silhouette compared to standard puff sleeves. This classical technique involves hand-positioning and pleating after the initial gathering, ensuring maximum symmetry and controllability during production.
Material & Craftsmanship
The sheer over-layer features a detachable design, allowing for versatile styling—either to veil the garment or reveal the intricate prints beneath. After extensive testing, we selected a highly transparent, micro-crinkled Organdy with a vintage, aged feel. Compared to ordinary organza, this fabric offers a superior matte finish and a richer texture; when layered, it creates a subtle gradient effect on the prints and reveals a delicate, fine shimmer under strong light.
